  • Camber/alignment

Alright, i'm getting ready to install my new springs (finally). 1 1/2" Progress springs for my redline, and i just got off the phone with the shop whose gonna do my alignment, and probably swap the fron springs since i don't have the equipment. the3 guy said i need a camber kit, or they won't be able to align my wheels all the way, but i've heard that it's not always needed.
do i need a camber kit for a 1-1/2" drop on a redline?? i need to know soon, because i plan to do this on monday. help!

you don't ever need a camber kit on this car. if anything they can mildly slot the struts and shim the rear, but that's not real common.

I have the eibach's on my car and did not need to adjust anything, neither did Chris on his redline with sprints. chances are you won't need any adjustments.

so just tell the tech to shut up and do it? lol. i've read the how-to in the DIY section, and i know he mentioned slotting the struts, i just wasn't sure if it was the same for the redline.

I have it somewhere on here in a thread, nto sure where, but don't slot the struts, 90% of the time you don't need to even bother.

I really need to go back and alter that article

but yeah basically you don't need any of that stuff for adjustment with what you're doing.

I'll second that - I've had Eibachs on 2 of my 3 Saturns and have never needed a camber kit. I did slot the struts on my SC2, but that was to gain more negative camber for autocross, not to force the car back to stock specs.

when they align it after the springs are in have them set the TOE on each side to the outermost threshold of acceptable variance... creating a \ / effect tot he wheels but very minimal... it will allow the outside of the tire to contact more so you don't get excessive tire wear like some of did.

more like 1.8-2.0 is pushing it, most with 2.5 have problems with CV's and such but not all

haha sweet dude, glad you like it. handling is probably worlds better now.

yeah, but if you slot those bad boys, you can get MAD camber for the auto-x events.
