  • When an EVO gets wet?

When an Mitsi EVO gets wet, does the trubo get wet from the large vent in the hood?

I ask this cause I have an awsome vent for my hood but it would allow rain on my turbo. I know this wouldnt matter when I'm driving 300m/h but when its idleing and red hot, it would be bad to get wet,

or it would rust...I would think?

Unfortunaltly there arnt many EVO's here in Canada for me to check.

Can the turbo and mani get wet?

well, IIRC the Evo has a head shield over all that from the factory so that might stop it from getting directly wet. everything under the hood gets wet indirectly when it rains, that's just how it works out, but I get what you mean.

I would be concerned about direct water on that fugger personally

I had a buddy a while back that had an evo, I asked this same question. turns out, the turbo is fine, but the manifold (mainly at the flange) rusts pretty bad.

Pressures and stresses of all kinds thermal and mechanical loading across the board escalate to extreme levels. A Chevrolet 5.7-liter LS1 V8 with this much specific power (horsepower per cubic inch) would be making 2,137 hp

it doesnt matter. the casing is fucking thick as hell. unless you dunk the entire thing in water, the casing isnt going to crack. also it rusts anyways cause of the extreme heat.

              1300 degrees + o2 = rust.

the only thing that doesn't rust is the compressor housing cause it's aluminum.

hey stace, there isnt any evo in canada period, unless someone imports them from JAPan or states, cause canada's laws dictate they are not steet/ road legal cause of ther bumper high as well as there 5mph front bumper crash record. it failed for canadian standards.

Powder coating and manifolds don't go hand in hand. Try some type of ceramic coating.

Well I was thinkunking that I could find a sheet of aluminum and make a cover to cover the mani sorta like a heat sheild. THat would cover the mani..and look awsome. cover my DP in aluminum exaust tape to try to keep it looking nice.

Unless I heat bag the turbine and center ...the turbo is gonna get wet.
