The seal under the 'donut' in pic 3 is shot. Remove the comp wheel, and then take the shaft out. Then remove the donut and inspec the center section side. It will be loaded with carbon that needs to be cleaned, and also, it needs to be flat so it can seal to the center section.
By any chance was this turn used and then you tred to 'clock' it to a new postion?

yeah its been clock twice and ran those ways since ive owned it. 180 degree clock. not sure when nefarious had it. its old and im sure due for a rebuild. its from a 85-86 tbird manual i think.
If there is carbon behind that 'donut', when you clock it, you break the buildup caked carbon. The carbon breaks unevenly around the seal and won't seal after its re-clocked. You need to clean the carbon buildup out, then clock it. It shouldn't smoke after you clean that crap out.
