  • curious about turbo swap

what all would be involved in swaping a redline to a turbo setup? i know it's been done, but i'm not really technical enough to come up with it on my own, and i don't know how much of an improvement it would make.

i know it would be something to save up for (lotsa $$$ involved), and probably rather time consuming, but i'm still interested if someone could give me a basic walk-through of necessary parts and procedures

(dunnno if this is relevant, but right now my goal is 300whp... without spray, will i have to go turbo to meet that goal?)

Iwould slap a turbo manifold and a decent turbo on the thing and then run a pipe threw from the turbo to he mouting location of the blower. You could just make a dummy peice from that took the path of the blower and mounted the t-body in the stock location.

Up the injectors to 48lb/hr and tune it with an HPtuners gimmick.

You would have to tap the oil galley to feed to the turbo and make a drain back line to the oil pan.

I think the stock inter cooler would work awesome since it already handles the heat from the blower...the blower makes more heat...so it will have to work a lil less with a turbo compressing the air.

YO ushould gain about 20-30 hp by going with the same boost pressure on a decent sized turbo (t3/t4).

with same boost level, the hp gain would just be the loss of rotating mass from the s/c right?

is there a list somwhere of HPtuner users? i'll go search it in a bit, but if there's someone in the seattle area using it, i could use the info

so aside from a new tune, just swap to a turbo manifold, remove or pipe thru the s/c, and re-direct oil flow? sound relatively simple (not sayin it's EASY, just easier than i expected)

it is, we've discussed it many times and were planning to do this for Linefire until he went to the beach so to speak.
