    What turbo is it>

Basicly you look for any damage to the compressor and turbine blades. Also check for shaft plat....in and out, and back and forth. If there is any play in either direction in excess of about 1/16in, then have it rebuilt.

Also, there should be no contact between the wheels and the housings. If you hind any places that where the wheel touched the housing, then look fro a different turbo.

cant you spin it with your finger to see if it has been lubricated well in the past? It might just be a myth but I heard it somewhere. If it is fresh off the car and was used in less then a week in the past it might still spin alright.

you can frank, but excessive spinning without a source of oil will damage the bearings

how good a deal it is depends on what turbo it is

if you want to bring it by with your friend or friend's friend or whatever I'll look, but I have a feeling it's a small mitsu turbo

eh, not really for our engines. even though you're not shooting for over 220 or so I still wouldn't go that small

For 100 bucks, chances are its not worth buying.
