  • engine build directions??

i'm lookin to run around 25 lbs. on the 1.9, i'm gonna be gettin another engine soon and i was plannin to go with crower rods and cp pistons (8.5:1) and the SDA crank, but than i was lookin at other SDA parts and seen how cheap everything was. So i was wonderin how strong the hyperteutonic (sp?) pistons were, if i got there stage 2 head and the pistons it would only be like 300 more and i'd be gettin a rebuilt head too?? wonderin which way to go.
oh i was told they had good F/I cams, just wonderin which ones they were.

well hypereutetic, namely those sealed power ones, are pretty good. they have held up under quite a bit of detonation in my friends eclipse. but hypereutetics are a harder alloy, which allow for a tighter clearance and less expansion. if you were to run under 10psi id say it should be fine, if its tuned properly! hypereutetics are known for cracking under detonation, but the sealed power brand hold up much better then most all others.

if you are actually going to boost 25psi, dont cheap out on the pistons! if you were low boost, fine just tune it right.

yeah, like he said, if you want 25psi, don't cheap out. Also, why did you pick pressure rather than a power number, that should be your goal imo. Either way, why did you want an sda crank? just have yours clean up (if in bad shape) and balanced to 10K and call it a day. Save the money for injectors, management, sensors, and hte other turbo goodies you'll need.

cuz i havn't realy figured out my goal yet, i'd liek 300hp or more but i'm still tryin to look into everything and learn sum stuff, than figure out what i can afford, but as far as the engine i figure i want it to hold atleast 25 lbs, thats why i mentioned that. isn't it expensive as hell to have your crank balanced? wasn't dead set on the SDA but i seen it wasn't that much so i was thinkin about it, just thought today that i'm best to not go with it thogh for the reasons u mention, i'm gonna need the money for other things lol.

as far as the crank balancing, not really. only cost me like $120 and they dipped it/micro polished it as well.
