• GM factory SC

Lookin around tonight and found this. think it might work on our IONs?

http://www.crateenginedepot.com/store/2 ... 54C41.aspx

says it's for the 2.4L sunfire and cavalier, but that's still the same engine as ours, right?

no, that engine was not an ecotec variant

however, the blower designed for the 2.2 and 2.0 should bolt right up to the 2.4 head, being that all 3 have the same bolt patterns

ok, thanks. my bad on the different engines. so any setup for an ecotec should be compatible with all ecotecs? is that right?

yeah thats for those chintzy 2.4L. water pumps, head gaskets, and cracked heads owned those engines. they would be nice powerplants if those things would have been lined out, but who cares theres ecotecs now.

as of the other question im not sure.

the 2.4 is a Quad4 without the name. Nice engine, pain in the ass to work on. It has it's share of inherent problems that have already been mentioned (head gaskets, etc).

The guys from the GAOC would appreciate the link though.

But- couldn't s-car owners fabricate an intake manifold for it?

those are already out. i've got one under my hood. 2.4L, VVT, but it's still the ecotec. so if that SC won't work on an ecotec, then it still won't work on an ecotec.
i was looking at GM's performance division website last night, and it seems that they are trying to increase production and focus on more ecotec parts! a lot of pages on the site are still under construction, but from what i read and saw, I think we're in for some treats in the next couple years, as the ecotec base spreads. keep your eyes peeled guys

I'm just interested in a exhaust manifold for my 2.2L so when I come back after 8 months in the sandbox I can finally afford my turbo.

if you are doing aftermarket SC you should really be looking at centrifical anyway
