  • Medical grade N20 ?'s

I have question for anyone that can answer this ------

Yesterday I was given 2 10 lbs n20 bottles, full, there pressure tested and stamped for hospital use. Can they be moddified for automotive use? and what all else is would I need to make this functional system?

n2o is n2o, only difference is that doesn't have sulfur in it. I was originally told that the sulfur was put in as a syphoning agent, but I recently have understood otherwise from people. Only issue you may have is whether or not it has a syphon tube in that bottle as automotive bottles do have, that would be your only dilemma. you could always use those bottles to fill another one though.

what else would you need to make it a functional system? an entire kit, or if the bottle is the same as an automotive bottle, everything but the bottle

there is a syphon tube in the bottle to pick up the liquid from the bottom of the bottle. reasoning is you want liquid, not gas, when you spray. this is why you have to mount the bottle on an incline, so the liquid goes toward the bottom.

are you debating going with a nitrous system? you have much research to do if so

No, I'm pretty sure, it's just modifiying the bottles to work, I found a part# NOS-16139NOS the fitting is the right size for the bottles I have and I wouldn't mind buying two of them, and the install kit , plugs and the an fitting set..... back to the part ---- does this appear to be the syphion tube you speak of?

if you have to modify the bottles to work, that would involve removeing the nitrous from them, i.e. starting over from square one

              is what the syphon tube?

see and I understand the concept of starting over. These bottles are not equiped with spyhon tubes, the part number is for a valve/tube assembly, I dont mind venting the N2o, the Doctor gave them too me he hasn't used them in 3 years. The last time they where filled was 3 years ago so do we know if theres a shelf life on n2o in a bottle?

just got off the phone with Jegs, that valve does not come with the tube, and they dont' carry it. I'd contact N.O.S. or NX and see if they will sell the syphon tube to you if you still need one.

to my kowledge there isn't any, it's in a sealed container under pressure.

if you open it and it comes out clear, then it had a small leak, should be fine though if its sealed.

I would open one and see if it even has anything in it, then take out the valve and see if there's a tube or not in there.

we weighed them yesterday, and they weigh full. bottle total weight minus weight of bottle and valve assembly. and they're still sealed with the straps (the one that shows tampering)

the N2O we use at our hospital has an additive that lessens its combustability so it lowers the potential danger of explosions inthe hospital... they have it retarded enough were it will slow burn instead of exploding
