• 80 shot - too much?

I've seen many people say the 75 shot is perfectly safe for a stock motor, but what about an 80 shot through a direct port kit? I wanna get a DP kit b/c later I will eventually forge and wanna save the hassle of upgrading from a single fogger to DP.

I've heard of people doing a 100 shot on a stock motor and being fine.. so I'm thinkin an 80 would be ok? It will be a new rebuilt motor with SP hypereutectics.

i havent seen a 100 shot on a stock motor
what kit are u going to use, thats a lot of power on a expensive build u know?

hmm....i believe that kit is a push button kit
if this is the case u need to be extremely careful about hitting that limiter while spraying, U WILL torch a motor no matter how strong the internals are if you hit the limiter while spraying.
are u getting any kind of cuttoff switch for the kit so it automatically shuts off the nitrous before the limiter?

i think its called a window switch but im not sure

but i think if everything works out with the kit the 80 should be ok

In short,

Don't use the "Fast and Furious" style push button, use a wide open throttle switch. It's easily attached to the throttle body.

Also, like brokenheadz was sayin', don't get cheap and not get a window switch. A window switch allows you to set the nitrous (or orther applications) so it only sprays between a set rpm, that you designate. This will keep you from spraying under 3k or spraying into your limiter. They come in pill (manual) form or digital (I recommend the digital).

Don't forget to run 93 octane (or better) and pick up some NGK, 2-step colder plugs (NGK# BKR7E-11), this will help against detonation.

With a good tune 80 should be okay but if you bang that limiter, that's all she wrote. If this is your first time using nitrous, you really should start with a lower shot (35,50) and get the feel of your car, then work your way up, but that's just my opinion. ALso, start saving for an Act clutch (or similar) because the 80 is gonna wear out your stock setup.

SefDog on TSN did a DP setup and he blew his motor to kindomcome

It was also only a 75 shot if i'm not mistaken, and he was racing an EVO

Just make sure you are PROPERLY tuned, since DP is the most powerfull but with the most risk by far

Seths engine was destroyed by improper machine work by his engine shop, not nitrous or his "tune".

You use both. If you dont, everytime you go WOT you will spray. Obviously you will still have a main arm switch, but use both, a pusbutton and a WOT switch.

Also, like brokenheadz was sayin', don't get cheap and not get a window switch. A window switch allows you to set the nitrous (or orther applications) so it only sprays between a set rpm, that you designate. You only need a window switch if you can't pay attention ot your tachometer. If you cant, then yeah, get a window switch.

Don't forget to run 93 octane (or better) and pick up some NGK, 2-step colder plugs (NGK# BKR7E-11), this will help against detonation.
Autolites are much cheaper and just as good. You will be changing your plugs a lot regardless of what brand you run. Cost will own you in the long run. But if you want to run NGK anyway, Id recommend the BCPR7ES plugs, Ive had better lick with them then with the BKR series plugs.

With a good tune 80 should be okay but if you bang that limiter, that's all she wrote.
Nitrous isnt like running a turbo or blower. You are extremely limited in the amount of tuning you can do. Short of changing jets and MINOR adjustments with an SAFC, you cont change much. Also keep in mind, if you get it "tuned" for your 80 shot on an 800psi bottle pressure, it will only be tuned when your bottle pressure is 800psi. Anything higher and it will be too lean, anything lower and it will be too rich. Id personally just go with what your kit MFG recomends for jetting.

i'll just see if i can scrounge enough cash for some forged goodies.

I dont wanna be hoping my motor won't explode every time i spray

In all theory a DP is the safest cuz it is of course a wet kit. The atomization is much better and allows you to "stack" if you will the nitrous slighty but is so fast you wont notice. The increased atomization allows for less possibility of falling out od suspension or "Puddling". I reccomend a Single fogger wet kit for newbies (I will be as well) it is effective and it works great w/ little troubles if you set it up with some goodies just in case you slip up. Get a Window switch and use the WOT switch (there are two types the one that goes in the tps and the one you mount on the TB so choose wisely.)

I remember when Seth blew up GBP. That really sucked and was not his fault at all.

I've got a WOT microswitch, RPM Window Switch, and main arming. If I did not have a rev limiter, then I wouldn't really need the window switch, or would just have an RPM activated switch. Either way though, an RPM based window switch is not a waste of money, even if you only use it as a backup safeguard.

Sam's had great luck with the Autolites. I've never used them, but have been debating on trying the BCPR's in place of my BKR's

Well in the long run, only each person can decide what works for them. I choose to err on the side of caution, but everyone's different.
