  • here ya go vinny a post in the nitrous section....

im gonna start with the zex 50 shot wet sytem, but if all goes well and the motor doesnt explode then im gonna bump it up to 75 and then no more, i dont wanna push the stock internals.
what octane should i be running, cause the highest i can get is 91 in CA,
and how many degrees cooler should the plugs be?
    Fucking Pringle bastards.

    91 is fine...

    2 steps colder NGK's BCPR7ES OR BKR7E11.... I know its NAPA number 1283

there are people that used Autolites with success so you can look into those too...

Yeah, NAPA 1283 or NGK BKR7E-11 is the two step colder plug that will help against detonation. You will want to run 93 octane as well for the same reason. I did not know you could only get 91 in Cali, that sucks.

Brokenheadz, you should be fine as long as your engine is in good working order, only YOU know that answer. My '93SC2 had 280k on it and I ran a 50 shot for months with absolutely no problem, probably 12-15 bottles worth. Switched to 75 shot and had trouble but I think it was driver error (don't be cheap and get a window switch) that caused me to burn a few exhaust valves up or it just hot-spotted.

ALso, don't go all Fast and Furious style with the buttons on the wheel, get a WOT (wide open throttle) switch and mount it to your throttle body. Get a window switch just for safety and piece of mind and remember not to spray under 3000 rpm and DO NOT SPRAY INTO THE LIMITER, or you WILL break something.

75 should be fine. like stated. 2 step colder plugs. i do however disagree with 91 octane being fine. when bottle is on board i run no less than 93 octane and even then i usually add a couple bottles of octane boost. sure it really doesn't raise the octane rating very much maybe a point but anything extra is better than no extra. you have to remember that a octane rating at the pump is usually +/- a point or two. i believe it is even stated somewhere on the pump.

even on 93 octane and according to sam i was still getting a little detonation. jury is still out on that though.

yeah but Josh there are a lot of guys in cali and arizona running nitrous, and they only have a high or 91 over there too

gonzo - I'm running the 7e-11's gapped at .035 along with a few other goodies, works like a champ. there's a user named AllTheDude that's on TSN and maybe here, he just put his Zex kit in, you might want to contact him if he's in an area that only has 91

Maybe after getting home and I do some testing on my engine I could go with a N2O set-up maybe 35-50 but only the testing can say for sure. If I do which company has the best results for 3rd gen?
