• launch problem?

ok this a bit of a story if you dont wanna read it in full ill brake it down for everyone

ok so my buddy has a blazer him and i ran into each other on the street (note it rained during the day) at night so him and i set up i turn off traction control and get ready to launch i punch it and the tires just sit there and spin up to 30 then shift into 2nd and then @ 50mph they grab

now i know thats gonna fuck me up at the track

then tonight on my way home from this girls house i was thinking to my self can't wait to test my car out at the track sitting @ a stop light of course then a eclipse pulls up next to me (gt v6) she inches up then i do back and forth till the light turns green and i take off and shes still sitting there i look in my rear view me and see a 99 sl1 or 2 (couldn't tell) then he goes to pass me and at the next stop light i rev it up turn off traction again rev it up and launch it same thing thru first then finally @ 50mph in 2nd it grabs

now, i know how to launch a car, been to the track alot with my other car and she always grabbed my question is, is there too much power for the tires to handle? i dont think so only 175 ... + and i figured since i lowered it it would give me a tad bit better holeshot... so is there something i can do to get a better launch out of my 2.4... anyone else have this problem, i know its the same thing that happened to me when i drove the RL (ion redline)

ummm, don't just rev it to the limiter and dump the clutch.

there are plenty methods though.
find a good prm, and just do a clutch drop, if all you are doing is spinning, try to lower the rpms a lil. You want a little spin but not a weenie roast.

the other method is a little harder but I think its prolly better. Rev it up higher and ease into the clutch, don't just pop it.

also, invest in good tires should be #1 if you havent already

1) If your tires are spinning, let off the gas a little
2) Don't race in the rain.
3) Don't just drop the clutch; try easing into it.

Yeah these 2.4's are kinda hard to launch right. What I do is rev up to about 2500 RPM's and ease the clutch up about half way then side step, and depending on how much wheel spin i have then i floor it.

I'm sorry, but if you're getting this result when launching, you don't know how to launch the car. as said, don't even attempt this in the rain, practice when it's dry. you also have a different torque curve to manage now from the 2.2, so you need to keep that in mind. dumping the clutch never has worked for me in the past, and definitely doesn't now, lean how to slip it without overheating the unit. what tires are on the car? stock were horrid, nothing is going to salvage that. lowering it will help, but I noticed the greatest difference from making the lower front trans mount solid. I'm sure you're still getting wheelhop under wheelspin(especially in the rain) and this will reduce it a lot.

practice on dry pavement for a while and find the sweet spot for those tires, then adjust accordingly when you get different rubber, you'll find it, it just takes time.
