• Side exhaust

can you peoples with side exhaust post pics? I'm considering dumpin in front of the rear right wheel. Any issues to expect, such as scraping the ground? I dont think the exhaust gets very hot that far from the engine so i wouldnt think it would damage the plastik.

No pics, but from experience put the largest GP in there that you can and a morosso spiralflow after it to quiet it down. I was setting car alarms off from about 1 1/2 blocks away. Do that all before the first 90 bend. From there get a piece that looks like this.

I would cut out a section of it so that the opening is longer. Refer to crap picture.

Then point it down and away from the front of the car as best you can.
You can also do like Sam did with his. Poke around, the picture should be somewhere. Should work fine also, but you MUST put that morosso on there if you don't want everyone going apeshit about how loud your car is. I cannot stress that enough. Even here in MT where all the hicks trucks are louder than trains, people and police still looked @ me.

i'm getting the cat and resonator welded on early this week.. and i'll see how loud that is. If iits too loud i'll get another circular muffler such as the moroso welded on when i get the side exhaust done

You can do all that crap on your own for just the price of parts ya know don't ya? Really dude, it is way to fucking loud, and I had a 36" GP on there.

would it be louder or quieter if one were to replace the cat with a short (say 12") moroso or similar muffler? i've been wondering so you'd still pass inspection, but you'd have a slightly less restrictive system without making it too noisy.
maybe i'm just stupid though. probably easier to just gut the converter.

*sorry for the threadjack, i just didn't see the need to start a new one

I dont have a welder. And second, i have a 30" resonator AND a cat.. you didnt mention if you had a cat. The cat quiets it down quite a bit.

how well will clamps really hold up? Im skeptical that those will hold an exhaust together through all the road vibrations and such for more than a couple months

The U clamps that I used before worked great. These are way better.

Old set up. It was 2.5" w/ a long res installed backwards (done on purpose, don't ask)

It was nice at idle and cruising, but at WOT it was really really annoying (I think it had to do w/ the backwards res)

For this set-up I got this beautiful award!! LOL!!

The car is my DD and I have a family, so I went a lil quieter (6" round muffler from a F-150)

                      New Set-up.....

                        Ahh, F-150 mufflers unite lol!!!

I have used the cheapie exhaust u-bolts with no trouble. I went that route because I was making changes and did not feel like cutting everytime.

I just dumped mine behind the F-150 muffler, it just faces to the right a little but that's all.

I had an LT1 tip out the side but changed to dual LT1's out the back cause I kept bumping it on curbs and it would vibrate on the rocker pannel.

It looked ok but not as good as dual LT1's out the back.
