• Not another exhaust thread

ok. i jacked up my front end and put in the replacement shifter cables (which cost $188 from the dealer, in case anyone is wondering) the sleeving of the old one was ripped up at the transmission end. It works great now, and even is a little firmer than it previously was..

but this leads me to:
I need a good sounding exhaust.

I have no idea what different parts will sound like, on my saturn.
I'm looking for a sound that is not ricey, raspy, loud, sharp, or tinny. What I am looking for is a more OEM-performance tone: rumbly, deep, soft, and quiet. Like my 88 Bronco II was.

I have been looking at rice cans on ebay, but i have not found anything worthwhile- except i do like the look of this one can that has dual tips.

but, im sure this still sounds like rice.

If I'm not mistaken, there is a large section of straight exhaust pipe under the midpart of the SL. If I splice a long glasspack (how long?) into this section of pipe, will that quiet that rice can? will it sound good? or just like quiet rice? do any of you have sound clips of different exhausts on saturns? (or a comparable 4cyl?) what about 3 chamber mufflers? what do you have on your guys' saturns?

what you really need is a V8

becouse your not going to get the sound your looking for from that SATURN 4 cyl

if I had to do a 2nd N/A exhoust I would do a 2.5 inch cat back with one or 2 of those

than just have the loacl mufler shop make you the tail pipe out the back

I have a Magnaflow SS muffler with my 2.25" cat back and it sounded raspy as hell. Make sure you get a resonator!

Heres a video. Im going to make a new one outside the car tomorrow.

what do you mean by a resonator? Is this just a glasspack?

the stock tubing has plenty enough flow for a 1.9L
Im looking mainly for sound, and maybe minor performance increase

yeah I know those guys are harsh but they are just pointing out the truth

the thing is aney thing is better than stock

but some times you have to try more than one set up to get what your looking for

I have installed 3 exhoust setups under my car

non of them was " just a new mufler " ... if your looking for the one good ancer to all your questions than your probboley be happy with a new stock mufler

hell rite now I have a full manderal bent 3 inch exhoust and I'mn still not happy but it works for now

no, not kidding, nor looking for performance anyway. I'm going to stay n/a and sohc.

I guess i'll try some nondescript rice can and glasspack resonator, but if any of you have sound clips, i would love to hear them.

leave it alone.. use it for good gas mileage. I dont think thee is really a reason to try and make your car sound "fast" just to sound "fast". Im not sure...... but I believe the people that just add a muffler and nothing else usually get made fun of, and you dont want tht im sure.
