its gotta be 2.5", and i prefer stainless steel.. heres what i had in mind so far:

-obx header and had the pipe chopped off after the flexpipe and 2.5" pipe welded on (i already have this)

    -2.5" stainless resonator (longest i could find - 25")

    -magnaflow 2.5" stainless muffler

Obviously like everyone I don't want it too loud - or whisper quiet either. Any suggestions on better parts for the price?

a moroso spiralflow muffler. they're only like 48+shipping on jegs, and they sound pretty good. not that loud either.

      +1

I had this set up on my SL2 but with an OBX muffler, go with the spiralflow and the magnaflow FTW!! I just have a magnaflow on my Ion now and it sounds really nice.

Are you guys saying to use a Spiralflow muffler instead of a resonator, and use a regular muffler (i.e. Magnaflow) at the rear like normal?

try to find the quietest muffler possible. Your car will thank me when 2 yrs from now there's not rattles coming from all over the car like alisha's.

a sprialflow muffler is basically a resonator. it uses the principle of deflection to quiet down the tone, as opposed to a glasspack which is just fiberglass packing to absorb the sound instead of helping it travel down the pipe.

I realize that... I just thought that most people were using a standard resonator, and replacing the rear muffler with a Sprialflow. To me, this way would make more sense, but I've never heard a car that used one either way.

well, you can run it either place, but I usually suggest it to be used as a resonator. hell with just one of those inline and a turndown they don't sound too bad. if you ran two of them it would sound low and pretty quiet. with some obvious exceptions, it's going to clean up the sound and volume a lot regardless of what muffler you run at the end.

Cool. Hell, they're short enough, I could run 3 of them (2 at the mid-section, 1 in the rear).

I did not know that, thank you, I will be looking for something more specific come time to upgrade to 2.5" this spring.
