Ive seen a lot of people on the saturn forums talk about them, so my question is, does it perform well? also, how difficult is the install? or do you think I should just bypass the whole thing, weld my diff, and call it a day?

I've got the pg installed as well. If have alot of mile on your car, you might as well have the transmission rebuilt as well. It will only cost you a little more, all the money is in labor. Mine runs great and it does make a difference. I also had an ACT installed while all the shit was out too. It's works good but I still wish I just got a quaife.Fixing a Saturn can be like reaching into a bag of scorpions and hoping for the tootsie roll.
AMR coilovers w/pillowball mounts, AMR FTB, AMR RST, Quaife, ACT clutch, HR con rods with JPC max bore pistons, Thermal exhaust, Hotshot header, AEM CAI, and I just want to run around tearing my cloths off, screaming beligerently, and spitting, and twitching, and foaming; because its finally done.

well, just judging by the response here, I think ill get the PG. also, as far as a whole tranny rebuild goes, what would I be looking at price wise? is it something that I could do myself?

Not to hijack, but what is all involved in a tranny rebuild? I'm sure the author wouldn't mind knowing as well. When I installed mine I just checked to make sure all the gears were fine, and replaced all the bearings and seals, including the big bearings on the diff (I was suprised at cost of those things).
Oh yeah, if you have a spare tranny or have yours out of the car, installing the PG isn't hard at all. Different Racing has a very good writup of trans teardown : http://www.differentracing.com/tech_art ... embly.html

although Ive never rebuild a tranny, the parts you said that you replaced kinda sounds like rebuild to me. im not sure what else you would have to replace, well assuming all you gears and what-not are all ok. but if there is anything else, I would love to know

There are litlte busing bettween the shift for and the synchronizor rings that can e replaced and busings in between the shift forlks and that shaft they all slide on...cheap little plastic things that make it hard to shift.-6S Resident Mechanical Forensics member #001.

ok, so what type of driving/power can the phantom grip handle? if i'm gonna be doing drag and auto-x on weekends, and have it as a daily driver, will it hold up to that, or should i go with a quaiffe instead?-Kevin<br /><br />"Ha ha HA! Mine is an evil laugh...now die!"<br /><br />

It'll hold up just fine.
Under load, the cornering is tougher than it is with a quaife. The PG wants to pull you more straight. For drag racing, it works great.LSJ powered 1998 Chevy S-10 turbo

no, just wants to go straight a little. It works fine, I'm just saying it's a little tougher to turn at full throttle (under full load)LSJ powered 1998 Chevy S-10 turbo
