  • 2.5 or 2.25?!?!?

    I am gonna be doing a custom exhaust and I was wondering which was the best for performance...i also have a cai and a 91/92 header on its way and I plan on turbo.....but i hear the information about backpressure not being an issue...so i dont kno whether to get 2.25 or 2.5 and which would be more efficient and better for setups and such

    Whether or not you plan on going turbo, I'd get 2.5 if I was buying an exhaust. That is, unless you could get a 2.25" for a really good deal.

    Just so you know, if you're going turbo, your header and CAI will be useless, so you're just wasting money.

    Also, make sure you throw a nice long resonator into the mix so it doesn't sound like shit. [img]{SMILIES_PATH}/biggrin.gif[/img]

      n/a 2 1/4, turbo 2 1/2, bigger turbo 3

      if you plan on boost, dont mess with exhaust till the time comes.

        yeah...well i am goin 2.5 straight from the cat to a series 40 magnaflow...so i dont think it will need anything to make it not sound like shit....i kno all the crud im droppin in is waste of money but it will net for a few horses and it will make me happy for the time being...yay for poor college student....the meat of the plans are years down the road....but i think the 2.5 will be the way to go....by the time i go turbo i will be dealing with family relations and the knowledge mechanically will much more intelect and i will be able to replace/modify parts cheaply without stress of a shop doing his job right

                    that's going to sound like butt, put a spiral flow on there and if you must then the flowmaster. personally I've only heard 1 flowmaster that sounded good and it was on a boosted s-series. I'd suggest borla, magnaflow, spintech (loud and dirty ftw), or even some of the stainless ones you can find cheap over that.

                      with that combo, i think the car will sound like its letting out the biggest fart, then as rpms increase, get a rasp to it.
