  • does anyone know where...

this seems like the best spot to me,

anyone know where i can get aftermaket dogbones similar to these

    http://www.saturnmotorsports.com/storec ... =&PT_ID=58

maybe for a little less? sda has some but they say theres a 2 month waiting period?

ive been looking all morning so its not like im asking u to do the work for me, just hoping someone knows of something

    edit:

also i have heard that all u have to replace is the tam and the 2 dog bones, that the trans mount almost never wears out? is that true? it just seems like it be really hard to replace, but i might need to cuz of how hard my trans shifts

the most cost efficient, and IMO best way is to get the 00+ stamped steel mounts and use the prothane inserts

those aluminum ones on the SMS page will oval out and even snap in some cases, causing engine movement, not a fun time.

the SDA ones are sweet too, they're the same design as teh twistec ones (what sms used to copy for theirs) but are made of steel and wont oval.

lol the trans mount is usually always worn out, so not many will actually change it.

I swear this exact question was answered not very long ago

Yup We did the 2000 plus mount with the prothane inserts and the rock still going strong. N it's truly a notisable difference

right but if they're aluminum do not waste your money, they will fail eventually and often is quite dramatic

aluminum? i was thinking it was stainless but the sms and twistec ones were thin so they oval out, while sda made theirs thicker to stop the issue.

SMS and Twistec was aluminum, that's why they failed, it was the materials. The SDA are different and thicker as well and as a result much stronger. Trust me, I have a pair at home that I ovaled, they're definitely aluminum, stainless would have lasted much longer.

on sms they say theirs are stainless, maybe they changed it?

"This new motor mount kit includes two Stainless steel dog-bone mounts with polyurethane inserts. They replace the top transmission and lower engine mounts to reduce engine movement and increase the life of all other mounts."

same link in my frist post

im thinking it would be about the same price, i mean if its gonna cost me 36 with shipping x2 for the dogbones and then what say its another 30 for the inserts thats over 100 and the sms ones are 130 and they are brand new and stiffer

^^^^ the ones that get replaced are 2 the bottom engine mount and the top tranny mount.

Some people have swapped the top engine mount with a ployurethane one but from what I've hear nothing good comes from it

the trans mount isnt a dogbone is it?

as far as i know theres only 2 dog bones? but no im just gonna put an oem mount on the top, i heard they brake off the engine side if u stiffen them up. i want stiff dogbones cuz they have to be replaced anyways and the stiffer they are the less the tam has to work so the longer it will last.

nope the lower tranny mount is not a dogbone mount it's actually kind of squared and rather small with a rubber bushing. I can proudly say I snaped one in half.
