Y so much ASAP??? are you RIGHT now over the engine?
lol
If you want to affect you're compression preatty cheap: mess around w/ the valves, there are the dished ones and the flat ones
I know it has NOTHING to do w/ the pistons but he was talking about compression so I wanted to let him noe

im turboing it and i want to put all new shit in it and i want to get a abetter rod off sda but theyonly make the 98 rods right now and casue if i get there pistons i well have to get a 980.00 head so i can use the pistons casue the head is domed more for the pistons to work so i was just going to buy rods and new piston rings and new main bearings and shit and call it at that"The surgeon general never said anything about smoking V8's!"

all heads are domed on gasonline engines, thats where the compression/combustion happens. diesel dont because it happens in the piston.
you can run the 91-98 rod and piston, and since you want to turbo and i take it your buying the pistons there, get the sohc pistons.Ian---The Fat Ass

no look at this you guys are all off this is what im talking about read all of it
SDA Stage 2 Forced Induction Head
This head features This head is professionally Ported, Polished, Resurfaced, Cleaned, and Reassembled including Hi-Temp Valve Seals. Its ports are larger than the N/A heads. These Heads are also treated to combustion chamber material removal on the underside of the head. This reduces compression due to the area of the head being larger. Compression ratio is reduced down to approx. 8.7 to 1 - 9 to 1, an optimum for most any turbo or supercharged application. This in turn will allow you to use the hyperutectic pistons instead of expensive forged pistons. Designed for Saturns running Boost (turbo, supercharger, large shot of Nitrous)
see so im just trying to save some money so i was just going to get the 98 rods they have and use my stock 99 pistons and put new rings on them so i can use my stock head but if i but the 98 rod and the 98 hyperutectic piston than i have to buy that head. Im not after a head im after rods and pistons for my 99 motor so i can have a little bit of a buffer zone you all know what im talking about if you drive a turbo satty"The surgeon general never said anything about smoking V8's!"

SOHC pistons. just because you drop compression ratio doesnt mean you dont need forged pistons. its more about tuning. cast pistons can handle some boost, hyperutectic can handle moderate boost (BE VERY AWARE OF DETONATION!!!!!!!!!), while forged can take quite a bit. yet still even buying forged pistons doesnt mean your safe, you can utterly destroy forged pistons if its not tuned. tuning is the key.
for all it matters, you can run stock pistons, rods and head and run 8psi if its done properly. if your trying to cut corners, then just get the sohc pistons but remember cutting corners espeically for something like this can lead to disaster.Ian---The Fat Ass

91-98 rods with sohc pistons should work out. guys boost on stock internals all the time, just dont put too much boost on them and keep an eye on air/fuel ratios. but really i would upgrade pistons over rods, but then the stress would move to the next weakest link, the rods.
not trying to scare you and say BUY ALL FORGED RAWR!! but you might want to think pistons over rods but its not my decision. but i guess it depends on how much your spending on the internals and about whether to keep your 99 or go for the early rod and piston combo.Ian---The Fat Ass

you can use 91-98 rods and pistons in your 99 block. you cant mix 91-98 rods/pistons with rods/pistons from a 99-02, because in 99-02 the rods are longer and the wrist pin in the piston is higher to compensate for the extended rod, yet a 91-98 piston/rod combo has the same height as a 99-02 piston/rod combo.Ian---The Fat Ass
