Spark Plugs & Wires!

hey guys, i was woundering which type of spark plug and wires i should put on my 1999 sc2. i was thinking about changing them and i wanted to see whick plugs and wires would be the best for my car. i thought about using Bosch platnium 4 gap plugs??? what do u guys think? thanks, jeff [img]{SMILIES_PATH}/cool.gif[/img]

steer clear of platinum plugs, the SOHC and DONC engines don't react well to them. I personally run the NGK BKR5E-11's in my wife's sc2 and they work great. as far as wires, get the lifetime warranty set from autozone or advance or whatever is closest. whenever they fail just bring them in and get a new set. you're not going to get power increase over the OEM wires unless they were bad.

some are Bosch, some are Xact, depends on the parts store.

well spark plugs, ive used quite a few and the best ive had were ac delco rapidfires, which in fact are platinum. they were awesome plugs. ive used other platinums without one bit of an issue, but bosch platinums STAY AWAY FROM!!!!!!! if you have a euro car, they seem fine. ive also used ngk v-power, which were average. they were as good as the denso u-groove.

ive never had an issue with platinum plugs, and i think the main reason for people saying platinums dont work in saturns is because the car (if not completely in tune) can run very rich and burn oil. thats the only thing i can think of as to why people say they dont work, since my car wasnt burning oil nore was it running rich. i did pull the ac delcos at 20,000 miles so i could try another plug, but those ac delcos were the best ive ever used.


now wireset, ac delco, napa belden, or msd. those would be my choices.

Cuz unless u have force induction or some serious compression bump it won't matter what wire/plug combo u put into it


I like running NGK's in my cars and they work good. Wires are Discount Auto brand (whatever the fuck they carry)

so to put it this way if you don't have some serious work done, go the regular joe way

and if you're PLANNING on doing something, still go the regular way and then change it when u actually go into some serious engine mods

i have a aem short ram air intake, magna flow muffler. since many people are saying to use ngk i might as well replace the ones i have in there now. i have 114,000 miles on my car and i do not know if they have been changed before. as for plug wires i was thinking of going with bosch plug wires. jeff

Just bring the car up to "like new" specs. Change that shit, the oils (that's a biggy) and treat her good.


Honestly try not to push her too far until u know she can handle it


(MY story) When I got my MX-5 I didn't eve floor it till I got the oils, spark plugs and wires changed on her. JUST in case.
