Bigger. Better. Keebler

Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, "It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver."

I just talked to Monstah about this as I had some concerns as well. He told me he has painted many and it's not an issue.

I just got mine back from the machine shop and painted it today, I only did two light coates, just enough to get the color on it.

Pressures and stresses of all kinds thermal and mechanical loading across the board escalate to extreme levels. ^^^^

I don't think clear coat will handle the heat of the engine bay

but then again there is silver paint andy

rated at 1200 and 1300+ degrees (exhaust/header paint)

Actually, lots of manufacturers have painted their blocks like Ford, GM, Chrysler corp., etc.. But the main concern I had was our blocks are the lost foam cast aluminum.

I used Dupli-color Engine Enamel (New Ford Grey DE1611, I can post pics of it if you want, just did it yesterday. It is rated to 500* wich is plenty for the block) wich is one of many colors they make, including a bright silver-aluminum color that might work for you.

As for cleaning, I just would not use and acid based or serious degreaser cleaners on it. After all the damn work I am doin on this engine, I'll be damned if I am gonna let it get oily and dirty enough to need anymore than a simple pressure wash now and again.

plastic im probably a lil more anal retenteve about the cleanlyness of my car than most

i was hoping to smooth out the engine as the casting process leaves areas for dirt to hang up.
