• lightweight exhaust

most intake systems are made of aluminum tubing to save weight. what about an all-aluminum exhaust? compared to stainless, it would probably save about 10-15 pounds, and aluminum tends to resinate better than steel, so it would sould a little better too. obviously more expensive, but who here would be willing to save up for an aluminum exhaust system?
of course, maybe they already exist, but not for our cars for sure. wonder how much that custom job would cost?

Yeah. It was great when I was running just an open dp. But if you are really serious you could always do a titanium exhaust. It should lighten the exhaust... And your wallet.

not really, but it wouldn't last as long as stainless

titanium would be great, but super expensive

shorten the exhaust path, that would be cheaper and lighter

i drove with an open dp for 20 miles. loudest fucking thing in the world! sounded like a top fuel dragster. im glad the highway patrolman had i guy pulled over because he watched me.

i think if someone actually made an exhaust out of aluminum that could take the temperatures, it would weigh like 2-4x more then a steel exhaust. tubing would probably have to be thick as hell.

hey by te wounds of things though, if you want an actual exhaust sytem like me, then titanium is the best. its lighter, I think it sounds better, and lasts overall longer. Yes, no exhaust would work, but people please dont forget, we have something called the police in tis world that dont always appreciate roaring cars. Plus if you drive it daily it gets annoying.l I have a full catback, no cat, and 92 header with afterpipe, and mine still sounds loud to me with no backseat.

Allso, aftermarket cat back systems usually weigh about 7 pounds less then the clunkier stock system. I havea link with the weight of a stock exhaust, including catalytic converter, exhaust manifold, and afterpipe (downpipe). If I can find it then ill post it. Also, aluminum intakes I tihnk weigh less than stock plastic air box systems with rectangle filter.

well, you definately couldn't use aluminum for the header, but after that, it could be workable. i actually don't think it would melt at all. unless your exhaust temps climb above 1000 degrees (i hope to god they don't!!)

as far as titanium, yeah, it'd be nice, but i don't want to know how much that would cost
