• Alright all you audio ppl

    I'm on a mission.

    *takes a deep breathe*

My car WILL be rid of all its rattles. I will not stop till they are all gone. Or at least 90%. If I hit a hard bump and hear a lil something I can live with that. But the rattles and shit at idle are retarded. I'm looking at getting a ton of sound deadening. I've used fatmat on a friend's car and it was pretty good/cheap. Don't even mention Dynamat cause I'll laugh at you. I'm not looking to spend 5000, cause then I would just buy a car without rattles. I've seen a few ppl rec. second skin as well. Any opinions on which one is better and why? Also I don't really care for the ones that you paint on. I'd much rather lay it on in sheets.

Wouldn't recommend. Have it in my SC2. I used a heat gun to make sure it stuck real damn good. Two years later, it can peel right off.

Really! Most of mine has been installed for about 2 or 3 years now and its fine.Maybe the heat in Texas keeps it stuck better than in colder climates.

There is nothing wrong with Dynamat, it is just more expensive since it is well known.

i found that dynomat was a bit thicker then 2nd skin when i cared about audio and stuff i used fat mat which was a little thicker then 2nd skin, and it was pretty cheap i was able todo my trunk lid, trunk floor, 2 front doors, and rear deck for around 200 bux.canadian

i get rattles everywhere though, mostly seems like from my centre console where my deck is, and my manual window adjustment, and the usual door rattles

my buddys 02 sc2 wasnt as bad as mine. but meh its a saturn, ijust bring up the music. i got the sda tam mount and summit mounts so its gonna be vibrating regardless. i noticed if you up the rpms for idle all the rattles go away. i am sure a dealer can adjust the idle, or do it maually somehow.

This may sound ghetto but has anyone ever used expandable foam in the spots where you cant get any material to? I have alwaysw wondered how that would work.

wouldn't the foam be too light to actually do anything useful? anyway, http://www.secondskinaudio.com order a shop pack or two

the foam is used in homes all over the country for weather and sound, I don't see why it wouldn't help.
