• Water damage/new seats

My dumb ass left the driver's side window rolled down on wednesday. this was followed by 2 days of wind and rain, and the interior (pretty much just the driver's side) is soaked. the leather seems ok, but i'm worried about the seat cushions, carpet, and wiring inside the door panel (window/mirror controls).
is there a good way to dry out the seat cushions before they mold? or should i just use this as my excuse to get a new driver's seat? (probably another recaro, but one that's ready for a 4-point harness)

My corbeau one got rained on pretty hard one afternoon and it dried up fine. I would give it a day before you think you need a new seat and let it air dry.

ok. i'll do my best to dry/air it out this weekend. it'll be sitting stagnant for 2 weeks while i'm on leave, so i'll know for sure when i get back if i need a new one.

how would that work? Do you put it in a bag or just sprinkle it on the seat and vacuum later?

i'd think put the large coals under there then pick em up later...but then again, crumbled charcoal would absorb water better, especially if the carpet is soaked.

Sorry for the hijack, but the insulation crap was still a small bit wet when i put the carpeting back in my car and it smelled a little the other day. I cleaned that up pretty well with simple green and carpet cleaner, but i hosed it all out. Would the smell go away mostly if i sprayed carpet cleaner on the carpet and just wiped it? Or how about Febreze?

Okay back on topic

i did this once before on the old SL, but it wasn't as bad as this time. i just left the windows cracked whenever there was good weather, and it eventually dired out. a little febreeze until the mold died and stopped smelling and it was fine. unless your stuff is really soaked (like mine), then you should be able to get away with just a little febreeze, and be just dandy.
hmm, how nice would it be to have brand new Recaro seats w/ the 4-point harness setup though??
