I've seen some VHT stuff at local auto places but not a lot. Summit has it but there S&H policies make small orders kinda hard to cost justify, which is why when I need something I just plan on stopping there when I'm in the area.

Yup, I have used the red for my intake mani/valve cover. They only have red and black as far as I have seen. It's held up for over 18 months now and cost a whole 7 bucks lol.

The VHT is probably better stuff, I would try that first.

how well do you think crinkle coating would hold up to the outside elements? i've been thinking about taking off my rear swaybar and doing it black. after seeing matt's ass leaving the track wednesday, i realized that the swaybar sticks out like a wet dog's balls.

hmmm, mine does not stick out that bad....and when we were trying to do my header, which didnt work....it wasent rusted or anything(progress/bought from ebay) so i will not be messing with it.....my strut bar was in dire need of attention, so i grinded the rust off of it and coated it with crinkle....i will find out how the "heat" element will effect it.....or is it affect it? im to drunk to care....being away from friends and family for the holidays suck

As I said, I used the Krylon wrinkle finish (red) on my valve cover almost two years ago and the intake mani and tb about 18 months ago and all have held up fine

Honestly Ryan, if you want to just hide the rear sway from view, why not just flat or semi-gloss black it?? There is no point in bothering with the krinkle if you never see it, just shoot it with some flat black and be done.

eh, i've always been suspicious of spray paint being exposed to elements. i was asking under the assumption that crinkle coating would be more durable. if this ain't the case, i'll just spray it flat black.

If you get some good paint, the elements should not bother it, also GOOD prep makes a big difference.

My 93 for example, the door frames were rusiting (common on a lot of first gens that were neglected) and I hated the look. I removed all the inner and outer rubber and then ground them down to the metal. Scuffed them for the paint to get a good bite and used some Rustoleum flat black. It's been over a year and they still look new. (and that is the florida sun/rain) so just get some good quality stuff and you should not have any trouble, at least for some years anyway lol.
