  • engine accents

    I saw one of my buddy's whip's under the hood and he had his engine cover spray painted. i was wondering if i could do it and if i can, what do you think about it.

    would this be an Ion? just guessing? Mine's done to match the car with the same color as we intend to do the chrysalis with when we get it in for custom paint

      engine accents trap heat. and deaden sound. heat is bad. but do what ever ya please

          i have an 99 sl2...and also that's a good point about trappin heat. i will definitely think on that.

            I was talking about the engine cover/sound deadener on the Ion's, it's only installed for car shows

                you mean Valve Cover right? the thing that says Saturn in silverish lettering? Yes THOS can be painted. Mine is a crinkle coat, and NO IT DOESNT TRAP HEAT. A valve cover get shot like the rest of the engine, and the paintjob mine has, it actually acts for as a insulator than a conducter.

                  I painted mine blue over a krinkle coat, if you really are concerned about heat just remove the rubber seal on the back side of engine bay it will act like a cowl

                    at the time of my post i was not aware he had an s- series

                    i retract my statement. however the one on the 05^ IONS do trap heat and deaden noise.
