  • Fully Polished Custom Alloys

This is a simple but time comsuming DIY wheel polishing project that I did with my saturn. Just took some stock aluminum alloys, stripped the paint on them, sanded out the factory swirl texture with 600 and then 800 on a d/a, wet sanded with 1000, 1500, and 2000, then polished them with mother's power ball and aluminum polish, hand polished with mother's aluminum/mag polish, and finished it off with mother's billet polish. Then I painted the holes with a base coat of black and a light mist of a dark charcoal metallic. The project took me about a week spending an hour or two per day to finish and turned out fantastic.

You did a damn good job on those alloys.

My only question would be why that style, why not the 95 SC2 or 97-98 SC2 alloys??

      Regardless, nice work.

Wow... should be a good winter project! On the same boat as Plastic Fury, not exactly my top pick of wheels!

my mom totalled her 97 sl2 and so it was a free set of rims to work on. and my old alloys were curbed to death.

zomg you stole my idea.. i'm so taking your ass to court for copyright infringement.

but actually, the polish holds up very well. I havent polished my wheels in a couple months and they look fine. Just a very good initial coat of polish ( i used mothers billet polish) and it should protect the wheels really good.

this is the only pic i could find on my computer right now:

but brake dust is a real bitch, just gotta clean em every now and then

Yeah, the '95 SC2 alloy is much more aggressive looking and you did a damn nice job on them too.

The '95SC2 and the second gen SC2 wheels are the ones to polish for sure.

Bought a 2001 Saturn SC2 new, sold it in 2008, bought it back in 2017. I don't know why.

ralliart you need to quit complaining. j/k. I might have finished my old wheels but they were too messed up. and by all means anyone else can go ahead with those sc wheels. I'm not stopping you.

dual action sander. this was my old set but they were in terrible shape as it was and I never put the effort into them as I did with these. If I had a good set I would do them again the right way.
