  • HELP!! Parking brake alert won't go off

I installed my ladder tach today with amishland's (from the redlineforums) harness. Everything works fine, only took me about an hour and a half. . .anyways, when I turned on the car, everthing was fine. Except. . .

When I started to drive to work, I put my parking brake down, and the light stayed on. And when I started drving that annoying little "bing bing" noise that goes off when the headlights are on when you open the door and when you start driving with the parking brake up went off. And won't turn off.

I CANNOT drive like this, it could quite possibly be the most annoying thing I have encountered in working on a car. At first my thought was that I may bumped the parking brake wire to my DVD player, but i'm not sure.

. . .this is why I don't mess with wires. lol Any help guys???

either something is grounded that shouldn't be, or vice versa

I forget if that lead only works when grounding out, if so you could unplug it and it would work

the one on the sensor for the hand brake, it's under the center console

if that doesn't work, then take the lead and ground it out somewhere

there may be an issue though with your install of that recent part. take it out and see if the problem is still there, you may have a bad connection

You probably grounded the tach or took power from the lead to the sensor, or something. Double check your connections.

          That's pretty funny, though.

I have no idea why it would be doing this, I followed the instructions to a "T". And all the install points are factory install points for the comp pack

After I thought about it, When I went to pull the steel brackets off of the kick panel, I pulled the one off the drivers side by accident, and put it back.

But there was a wire that apeared to be grounded to that bolt on the bracket, perhaps it just not a solid enough ground. I'm not sure. What do you think Vin?

                HA fixed it!

I fixed it. It turns out that my parking brake wire was getting pinched under where the DVD player is. I pulled it out and bamm, all better.
