• New Saturns - Future Saturns

Has any read or heard about any upgrades that might be available for the 2007 Saturn Aura?

I have seen some artists drawings with aftermarket parts on them and read a post about they might be making a redline version.

I guess that its supposed to be out this Sept/Oct.

I think that it would be a really hot looking Saturn if it gets some attention.

The Relay will probably die in a few years, and will never see a redline version. Not sure if we'll see a Redline Outlook. We will probably see a Redline Aura above the XR a year or so after intro. I doubt there are many aftermarket parts in the works yet since it's just getting ready to hit dealers.

i've said it before...a relay redline (while not practical) would be hilarious, and could make an awesome sleeper. just think of it...a 350+ hp AWD minivan...yeah, eat my dust soccer moms.

I know that the ION is being replaced in 2008 with the Astra. The Opel version was a huge hit in Europe and now they are bringing it here. Just like Opel and Saturn had teamed up for the Aura, which is the L-Series replacement.

I am looking for the stats on the 2007 Saturn Aura XR (Redline maybe?)

Saturn said they are releasing 3 verions of the Aura, with the 3rd version being the Greenline Edition

                  Saturn Aura - 3.5L/224HP OHV V-6 - 4 Speed Automatic
                  18-27 MPG City/HWY

                  Saturn Aura XR - 3.6L/252HP DOHC V-6 - 6 Speed Automatic
                  20-30 MPG City/HWY

The Aura Redline is unconfirmed, but the Greenline is confirmed (2.4L VVT w/hybrid system, pretty much identical to the Vue Greenline setup). The XR is not the Redline, though it will have plenty of power.

Some of the hybrid stuff is hype, but the more gas prices go up, the more legit it becomes. Below is a break-even analysis comparing the Vue Greenline with the 4cyl automatic Vue.

Right now, it looks like the premium (the cost of the hybrid over the 4cyl auto) is around $3,000, but there is about a $500-750 tax break for buying it, so the overall premium is about $2,250-$2,500. Assuming gas is $3/gal (pretty accurate for around here), that means the hybrid system pays for itself (not accounting for any additional maintenance and repair cost) in 108K-120K miles. Considering the hybrid system also gives you +30hp and the warm-fuzzy feeling of putting out fewer emissions, it's not a bad deal.

Now consider if gas hits $3.50/gallon (which isn't that far-fetched over the next couple years). It'll take less than 100K miles before you're ahead with the hybrid.

The technology works. As long as it doesn't pay for itself, it is pretty much hype (and many of the hybrids out there don't pay for themselves). As fuel costs increase, though, the technology becomes more and more legit.

Ethanol is good & all, but it gets you less fuel economy. The advantages to Ethanol are more about economics and finding a way to keep our money out of the hands of our enemies than it is about saving gas. I'd bet money that increasing the fuel economy of half the cars on the road by 2-3 mpg would save more oil than substituting ethanol will be able to do for many years.

not to mention the fact that one of the main places they're lookin for ethanol to come from is corn...now to grow the corn guess what you need? a fossil fuel powered tractor!!!

just an EXTREME over-simplification, but ethanol isn't the fossil-fuel free fuel that the media would have you believe.
