  • 05+ ion CAI clunking noises

wasn't sure where to put this...so it's here.

for those of you 05 and up ion drivers out there with the fujita CAI, i was just wondering what ya'll did about the problem it was with engine motion and it hitting against the hole where it goes into the fender. on the first intake i had it was already starting to rub a hole in the intake, so i put in some cut rubber fuel hoses like vinny suggested. with my replacement intake, that wasn't working as good as it did before, so i took a tube of silicon i had laying around and basically sealed up the whole area in the hole around the intake with silicon.

just wondering what the other drivers out there have done about this.

I don't own a ION but, a friend of mine needed help with his NEON and that sounds like what we had done. Using a rupper hose around the pipe and some black caulk around it to seal it in place. Funny thing is the neon has a flex pipe between the TB and IM, really wacked out stuff.

Ace, I haven't had any problems, no noise, no rattle, but I also redrilled the intake mount post to better fit my personal taste i also cut that rubber gromet in half, redrilled the hole. It fits alot better and I dont have any issues, if you want pics let me know I'll be happy to go take a few.

hey, i was hoping you'd show up in this thread.

nah, pics ain't necessary but i appreciate the offer. it's just an intake and as long as it works, i'm happy.

before you redrilled the intake mount did you have the clunking?

yeah but only at the track when it would grab in the vht... the other thing you could do is take the bolt off the intake and see where it's at on the bar, and tap off of the post to get you the spacing you need
