do you have airbags in your car now? if so, i don't think it will be legal to remove them. so unless they make removable air-equipped steering wheels...
they do seem to look nice though, so if you don't have airbags, go for it if you find one.-Kevin<br /><br />"Ha ha HA! Mine is an evil laugh...now die!"<br /><br />

Remember, one thing about a removable steering wheel/hub is that the wheel is going to come out about 4 inches or so. This may cause a problem for you or not, as the wheel is going to be closer to you. I have looked at getting a good Sparco or Momo wheel but not the quick release, as the closer wheel bugs me.
It may not matter, but I figured I would mention it just in case you were not aware of that.

But the other thing to consider is that a stock steering wheel is... well, the outer rim of the wheel is a few inches closer to you than the center. Aftermarket wheels, on the other hand, are pretty much flat. So you actually want the hub to extend outward a few inches so that with a flat wheel on, you're not constantly knocking your wiper and turn signal levers.
A friend of mine has been wanting a quick release wheel for his ITA race car (the former James Walker Jr. #34 Saturn SC). I've climbed in and out of the driver's seat a few times, and with the roll cage and racing seat, the stock steering wheel (airbag removed) is really in the way. It would be so much easier if you could just remove it to get in and out. Thanks for the link - I passed it onto him.- Justin<br />91 Sentra SE-R, "The Millenium Falcon"<br />91 Miata, "The Otter"<br />ex 95 SC2 (Locutus), 96 SL2 (Silverstreak), 96 SL2 (Apollo), 94 SW2 (Ninja Wagon)

Do they have a kit for the ION at all. I'm DEF interested now. I know removal and disabling of airbags is usually illegal but...dammit that looks SPIFFY.
*edit* as far as I have read Idaho doesn't have a law saying airbag removal is illegal. Just says that IF I decide to sell the ION after all the work is done, I have to notify the buyer that the airbags are inoperable and have them sign a paper saying that the understand it...4 points and removable steering wheel here I come...
Werd!

Very true for a fully caged racecar. The ITA car here (Orlando) has the stock wheel w/ bag removed as well, and yes it is tight.
