LOL duct tape with body fill over it....yeah.....no

however, to set it where it should be, duct tape from the inside or outside and then starting with the fiberglass will work. it is not going to be "easy" I can tell you that right now.

to begin you need to take all the paint and prime off in the damaged area, that alone is going to take a little while at least, then you can start prepping for the first layer of patching. you're going to become very close friends with sandpaper too. by the time you're done you'll be able to sand something smooth with your eyes closed.

if you have a spare front bumper, I'd put it on, will be a ton easier that way.

if he's going to repair it, or at least attempt to, do it the right way

                  that sucks, damn

don't get stingy with the glaze, you can always sand it off later if there seems to be too much

are you planning to go with matting or a sheet?

i think im going to get a few sheets, sand down ALL of the damaged area, bondo the cracks, and then put sheets of fiberglass over. smooth it down again.

see the problem is that thats not what bondo is for.... bondo is for filling imperfections in a surface when preping for paint and such.... not magically fixing anything like that, molding, etc.
