  • Painted 3rd Gen SC2 Headlight housing

I keep forgetting to put up pics of the light I did for Jon. After seeing Red4Coupe's pics of the Ion lights today I figured I would put these up.

I remember seeing pics of a black 3rd gen with painted lights that looked great but we wanted to go farther and just leave the reflectors (as these Ion guys did).

Jon wanted to go with a metallic color to match a scheme we are working on for his car so this was the prototype. It had a bad seal and the lens was fogged real bad and the chrome pitted, so it was a good test bunny.

We like the look and will do this to the good lights now and it does not affect the lighting of the vehicle at night (only when looking at the car, it does look a little different, I need to snap a pic of that).

    What do you guys think??

I've been wanting to do something like this with the headlights and taillights on my truck. Let me know how hard it is to get the lens to reseal properly. That's my only concern. Don't need moisture getting in there

I just did this same thing on my Focus, and getting them to reseal def was the hard part!

Hmmm I'm liking that. I have a Yellow 3rg gen. Should I paint them black or Yellow? I am also getting a ton of condensation in my headlights. So I might fix that as well.

Can't wait to see them in the car.

go with yellow, it looks best on the yellow corvettes compaired to the other colors, i think lol

by doing that you're altering the reflection points and probably causing output to go way down. I've seen it before on 2nd gen eclipses and they had almost no light output once done, had to rely on aftermarket driving lights. I think it would be a bad idea and wouldn't look any better.
