  • Wiring Harness that retains OnStar

    As some of you may know I've been searching endlessly for the right wiring harness for my car which WILL retain OnStar. I called Metra TODAY, and they DO have the 2006 Saturn ION RedLine figured out FINALLY!!!! I was told it will be 1-2 months before the part is "on-the-shelf",.. but it's ON the way.. WOOHOOO!!!

    The Part # is GMOS-LAN-06 {Metra's phone number is 800-221-0932 if you have any other questions}

    I'm just soooo happy I can FINALLY install my Pioneer Deck.

          Got Mine

          Well,.. I got mine,.. & it does work,.. AND retains On-Star. My only problem is,.. the Pioneer DEH P680MP I have IS installed,.. yet doesn't sound too good,.. I might have just not gotten it setup right yet,.. but if it does NOT improve,.. I'm goin back to the Factory stereo set up the way I had it before with the subs tapped through the box off of the rear speakers.

            Nice radio. You just have to keep tweaking the settings. I have the updated model of the regular pioneer version of yours. DEH-P6900UB, I've had it for over a week, and I'm still messing with settings.

              If you guys need help adjusting a Pioneer HU, drop me a line. They sound decent at best with just typical settings, its when you get into the advanced stuff that it really shines. My friend got one 3 or 4 months back, and didn't have any of the advanced settings in use and I showed him the ropes and he was like "WOW, that sounds so much better!"

              I am debating on keeping my stock HU on my current vehicle or getting one of those 6900UBs... I like the idea of being able to connect any USB storage device and play songs off of it. Who needs an iPod when you can just get a 100GB Passport drive and connect it to the 6900UB and call it a day? Or you could buy a pen drive and just keep changing songs on it.

                Before you guys buy any of the new Pioneer head units, I would suggest you look at one in person first. The fake plastic chrome they use on them now looks terrible in my opinion. I would get a 2006 over the new ones.

                  I have only seen pics on Crutchfield and their website, looks decent to me, but in person may be another question.

                  My problem was I didn't much care for the redesign with the honking knob.

                    Got it!

                    Yeah some of the new Pioneer head units look like junk,.. especially the DVD screen ones. But my DEH P680MP looks fine. I do wish the screen had optional colors,.. like red instead of the blue.

                    I figured out what had happened. The FEEBS who put together my sub-box wiring for me used 1. Crappy smaller wiring, and 2. Screwed up the attachment. So,.. I had a nice roll of "Monster wire" I got on sale a while back at Sears,... I PROPERLY did the wiring all neat-like, and BOOM! Whatchya know,... the subs work just fine now. Although I know what you mwan about the advanced settings,.. my prior Premier model of Pioneer I had in the Mazda I had before this car had just as difficult settings also. So,.. I really just needed to "brush up" on how they were to be set up right. I have it mostly there. So,.. thankfully it looks like I'll be keeping the Pioneer,.. I'm glad also. I LOVE Pioneer stuff. Thx for the support guys n gals!

                      Sticky? Seriously? I can recall part numbers off the top of my head for plenty of cars. I can make a sticky from memory, lol.
